Each band is a delivery window the company promised, drawn where it falls on the calendar. When a date moves, a new band appears below the old one, so drift shows up as bands stepping to the right.

  • Battery drains while parked, then "Bike issue detected"Battery · first reported Oct 29, 2026 · 2 sources · 2 reportsMediumReported

An owner charged to 70% and unplugged; the bike read 40% the next night and 18% the night after, then showed "Bike issue detected" and "Install battery to ride" until reset.

One owner report so far. No ALSO response found.

  • Delivery partner mishandled Launch Edition shipmentsDelivery damage · first reported Oct 20, 2026 · 1 sourceMediumFix in progress

ALSO told buyers on 2026-10-20 that its delivery partner "wasn't handling our shipments as carefully as we'd like" and that it had switched to new delivery partners. On 2026-11-03 it said the change contributed to some Launch Edition deliveries slipping "by a couple of weeks".

Acknowledged by ALSO in buyer emails, with a named fix (new delivery partners). No public detail on how many bikes were affected or what happened to them.

    • Company emailOct 20, 2026ALSO buyer email, "TM-B Performance: Your weekly update.""We're now working with new delivery partners."
  • App shows stale battery level; no signal indicator for LTEApp · first reported Oct 19, 2026 · 1 sourceLowReported

An owner saw 90% on the bike while the app showed 60% from the night before. The bike has no Wi-Fi in use and no on-screen signal indicator, so owners can't tell whether it is connected for updates.

One owner report so far. ALSO's help center says updates currently happen over LTE and Wi-Fi features will come "down the line".

  • Real-world range well below the "up to 100 mi" claim in hilly, high-assist ridingBattery · first reported Oct 4, 2026 · 1 sourceMediumAcknowledged

One owner reported reaching 4% battery at about 30 miles in hard hill and wind riding on the Large battery, which ALSO markets as "up to 100 mi". Assist is also reported to taper as charge drops. "Up to" figures assume ideal conditions, so this is expected to vary a lot by rider and terrain.

ALSO's help center lists rider weight, assist level, terrain and tires as factors that affect range. It has not published tested range figures for hilly use.

  • Shops listed as "Authorized Service Partners" did not know they were partnersSupport · first reported Sep 16, 2026 · 1 sourceMediumReported

ALSO's Service page says it has 139 Authorized Service Partners, all "trained by ALSO to work on TM-B, specifically." Electrek relayed multiple customer reports of listed shops whose staff did not know they were ALSO partners.

No public response from ALSO found as of 2026-11-03.

  • Walk-up (proximity) unlock not available yetSoftware · first reported Aug 29, 2026 · 2 sources · 2 reportsLowAcknowledged

ALSO markets unlocking by walking up to the bike. In late August 2026 a reviewer of the new app reported ALSO said it was "still working on the proximity unlock". An owner in October described unlocking with his PIN every day.

ALSO's help center still describes proximity unlock as a feature. Waiting for an OTA release note or owner confirmation.

  • Dual kickstand catches feet and heelsFrame · first reported Dec 5, 2025 · 2 sources · 2 reportsLowReported

Two independent reviewers called out the dual kickstand design as getting in the way of feet and heels.

  • With an empty battery the bike drops to one very tall fixed gear ("Infinite Turtle Mode")Drivetrain · first reported Dec 5, 2025 · 3 sources · 3 reportsMediumAcknowledged

Because the TM-B is pedal-by-wire (no chain from pedals to wheel), a fully drained battery leaves a fallback mode at one tall gear ratio. Rideable on flat ground; owners and reviewers describe climbing as very hard. Matters most for long rides without a charger.

Described as designed behavior, not a defect. A journalist flagged it in December 2025, and an owner's deliberate drain test in October 2026 confirmed it. We have not found an ALSO help-center article that explains it to buyers before purchase.

  • Bike went fully dead after being left plugged in; battery locked insideBattery · first reported Not given · 1 sourceHighReported

A Launch Edition owner left the bike plugged in for a few days and found it completely dead. The battery did not auto-release in the low-battery state, so it cannot be removed, and the frame's USB port cannot wake it. The owner filed a support ticket.

Commenters point to a known issue listed in ALSO's OTA release notes; whether it is the same failure is disputed. Awaiting ALSO's resolution.

  • Loud drivetrain noise around 12-15 mphDrivetrain · first reported Not given · 2 sources · 6 reportsMediumWorkaround

Multiple owners report a loud, grinding or resonating noise that is worst around 12-15 mph. One owner says it puts them off riding. Others describe it fading after a few hundred miles.

ALSO support told owners it is the belt and should subside within a 100-mile break-in; a technician said ALSO tensions the belt more than other bikes. For at least one owner ALSO shipped an entirely new bike and took the noisy one back to its lab.

  • Rides not saved to ride history on the bike or in the appApp · first reported Not given · 1 sourceLowReported

An owner reported that an 8-mile ride never appeared in ride history on either the Portal display or the ALSO app.

No ALSO response in the thread as of 2026-11-03. One report so far.

  • Setup faults: motor fault, battery not charging outside the bikeAssembly · first reported Not given · 2 sources · 2 reportsMediumReported

A new owner reported a motor fault that a reboot did not clear, a top frame that would not lock, the app losing connection, and no sign of charging. A separate owner could not charge the removed battery with the included USB-C charger.

Both owners contacted ALSO support. No public resolution yet.

This is the only section that contains opinion. Each dimension is scored 0 to 5 against a published rubric.

Often fell short

Our judgment, based on the sourced record above and the published rubric. Reviewed Nov 3, 2026.

11 / 25

Scored on 5 of 7 dimensions. The rest are too early to judge and are left out of the total.

  1. Delivery timing

    1 / 5

Every Launch Edition window was missed and reset, and Performance bikes promised for the first half of 2026 had not shipped by November.

  2. Communication

    2 / 5

For most of 2026, new dates arrived quietly after old ones had passed. Since October 13, weekly emails have arrived exactly when promised.

  3. Honesty about delays

    3 / 5

When ALSO explained, it was specific: chip supply, battery certification, drivetrain precision, a shipping-partner change. But some slips came with no explanation at all.

  4. Order handling

    3 / 5

Cancellation terms are clear and we found no refund complaints. But ALSO charges the full price at order with no delivery guarantee, and offers no compensation for the delays.

  5. Condition on arrival

    Not scored yet

Too early to judge. ALSO switched delivery partners after admitting shipments weren't handled carefully, but there is no public data on damage rates yet.

    • Buyer email: "our delivery partner wasn't handling our shipments as carefully as we'd like." (Oct 20, 2026)
  6. Software and fixes

    Not scored yet

Too early to judge. One over-the-air update (2026.31.1) has shipped, and few problems have been reported long enough to expect a fix.

  7. Support and service

    2 / 5

ALSO advertises 139 trained service partners, but customers report listed shops that didn't know they were partners, and its own service-network launch slipped from early 2026 to mid-to-late 2026.

How the company has explained delays, quoted exactly.
